T Kumaresan on Indian Institute of Metals’ National Steering Committee
T Kumaresan (TK), Senior Vice President & Head — Minerals & Metals IC, has been nominated as a Member of the National Steering Committee of the Indian Institute of Metals (IIM), a reflection of L&T’s and his personal substantial contribution to the metallurgical sector.
Established in 1946 at Kolkata, IIM has nearly 10,000 members spanning industry, academia, and research, playing a pivotal role in promoting advances in metallurgy, materials science, and allied engineering domains. It also serves as a national platform for knowledge sharing, professional networking, and fostering collaboration between industry leaders and academic institutions. As its apex body, the National Steering Committee provides policy direction, strategic guidance, and oversight for IIM’s activities, ensuring that it remains a catalyst for growth in the metallurgical sector.
TK’s leadership and expertise will undoubtedly add significant value to the Committee and further reinforce the connect between industry and academia in shaping the future of metallurgy in India.
L&T Construction sweeps CE&CR Awards with four major wins
L&T Construction has secured four prestigious recognitions at The Civil Engineering & Construction Review (CE&CR) Awards 2025, underscoring the company’s unparalleled expertise.
B&F IC demonstrated its excellence in both airport and high-rise construction. The DIAL Phase 3A Project was honoured with the ‘Outstanding Airport Projects’ award, highlighting the project’s remarkable engineering, innovative construction practices, and the successful delivery of India’s busiest and largest brownfield airport infrastructure development.Furthermore, B&F IC’s The Prestige City Siesta Tower won the award in the ‘Outstanding Tall & Super Tall Structure’ category, recognizing its innovative construction as a 54-storey residential high-rise reaching a height of 210 metres.
TI IC achieved dual honours for its large-scale infrastructure and pioneering construction methodologies. The Airside Works at Navi Mumbai. International Airport (NMIA) was awarded under the ‘Outstanding Infrastructure Projects’ category. This prestigious recognition is for the project’s exceptional execution in transforming 2,867 acres of rocky terrain into a landmark aviation hub.
Additionally, Tl IC — RBF SBG’s Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) C6 Package won the top honours in the ‘Innovative Precasting Techniques’ category, celebrating the project’s cutting-edge approach to construction technology.
The Civil Engineering & Construction Review (CE&CR) Awards recognize outstanding achievements in infrastructure and construction across the country. These awards underscore L&T‘s leadership in creating world-class infrastructure, its strong commitment to excellence, and its role in shaping India’s infrastructure landscape.

R Umasathiyan honoured by JSW Steel Ballari
R Umasathiyan, Operations Head — Ferrous Business Unit (Domestic), M&M IC, has been recognized by JSW Steel, a valued and longstanding partner of L&T for over three decades, for his outstanding contribution in successfully executing landmark projects that have in turn significantly contributed to the growth of the JSW Vijayanagar Plant from 4 MTPA to 18 MTPA.
