RBF (TI IC) finds innovative ways to keep ESG
top-of-mind

As part of their World Environment Day activities, TI IC’s RBF SBG found innovative methods to sensitize employees about ESG.

ESG Contest

All RBF projects were invited to present innovative initiatives about achieving carbon neutrality, water neutrality and efficient waste management. Assessed by a panel of experts, two projects from each category were recognized for their ideas.

The Cold Central Plant Recycle (CCPR) process developed by the Meerut– Aligarh–Ghaziabad Road project team that uses 90% of aggregates from reclaimed asphalt pavement was an extremely environmentally friendly idea. Further, since it is a cold-mix technique, the energy required to heat the bitumen, aggregates, etc. is reduced to almost zero. Pallet burners replacing fossil fuel-based burners in HMP to reduce the consumption of diesel and thereby Green House Gas (GHG) emissions was another capital idea, as were on-site solar installations and the use of solar electric and CNG vehicles.

In the realm of achieving water neutrality, deploying bio-septic tanks to treat the black water from sewage through a biological process, without using electricity, was another rewarding suggestion.

A poster competition based on the theme of conserving natural resources for future generations was thrown open to all employees. A pack of sketches were given to them along with an uncoloured theme of Environment. Upon submission, employees were given another blank theme to be painted by their children using ONLY the colors NOT used in the original design. The results were interesting as they were thought provoking!
