PEOPLE EXCELLENCE AWARDS FOR HCI IC

Heavy Civil Infrastructure IC won the ‘People Excellence Award’ for 2021 under the Servant Leadership During Pandemic Category. This award acknowledges People First COVID-19 Response and Engagement Strategy in managing the disruptions caused by the pandemic.

Initiated by NHRDN (National HRD Network) and NDIM (New Delhi Institute of Management), more than 140 companies participated in various categories. The award ceremony held on 24th July 2021, was graced by eminent personalities: Mr. B.P Singh Former Judge Supreme Court of India, Dr V M Bansal, Chairman and CEO, NDIM, Ex Advisor, Secretary and Principal Commissioner, Delhi Development Authority Govt. of India, Mr. Prem Singh, President National HRD Network, Dr Krish Shankar, Group Head HR Infosys, Mr. P Dwarkanath, Former Chairman, GSK Consumer Healthcare, Dr Aquil Busrai, CEO Aquil Busrai Consulting, Mr S.Y. Siddiqui, Chief Mentor, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., Mr. Rajeev Dubey, Principal Advisor, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. & Chairman Mahindra Insurance Brokers Ltd., and other dignitaries.

The award was evaluated in three stages involving preliminary screening and validation, followed by jury assessment, interaction with jury and presentation by the HR Head. Some of the important parameters considered were innovative approach, people impact, fostering diversity and inclusion, internal communication strategy, continuing development efforts during the pandemic, developing leadership pipeline, change management and the company’s contribution and support to their employees in challenging circumstances.

APPLICABLE TECHNOLOGIES FOR INDUSTRIAL EFFLUENT TREATMENT

The seminar session had attendees from around the globe, including business executives and senior delegates from the water & power sectors. The session was widely appreciated by the participants and acknowledged by the organisers.

3rd Batch MBA Programme in collaboration with IFMR GSB Launched

As a part of its continuing endeavour to offer employees opportunities for capability enhancement and career development, L&T Construction’s program in partnership with the IFMR Graduate School of Business (IFMR GSB) of KREA University, has entered its third year. The MBA Programme accepts 45 employees every year after a rigorous selection process and offers specializations in Finance, Supply Chain & Operations and IR & HRM.

The 3rd batch kicked off with a virtual event held on 31st July 2021 in the presence of Mr. Ramkumar Ramamoorthy, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Krea University, Prof Raghu Raman, Chairperson — EMBA Programme, Prof C Krishnan, Director – Financial Assistance & Senior Advisor, IFMR GSB, Ms. C Niranjana, VP & Head – Finance, Accounts & Administration, PT&D IC and Mr. S. Ramkishore, VP & Head – Human Resources, Divisional Corporate.

Ms. Niranjana in her address urged the participants, drawn largely from the FAA fraternity, to make best use of the program to sharpen their skills in Project Costing, Working Capital Management & ROI to contribute meaningfully to the organization. She stressed the importance of seeing the big picture, understanding the value of time and money when executing projects and remaining focused on cost optimization and Working Capital Management. Highlighted that the MBA Program offers the distilled wisdom of the business world, Mr. Ramkishore, in his address, mentioned that it would help instil in them life skills such as critical thinking, time & resource management and networking. He urged the participants to sharpen their skills to a keen edge to excel at their work. Apart from lauding L&T for their efforts to help working professionals learn while they earned, IFMR commended L&T’s commitment and programmes for capability building and creating career opportunities for their employees.

HEAVY CIVIL IC LAUNCHES DIGITALIZED INTERNAL CONTROL MODULE

Mr. S.V. Desai (SVD), Whole Time Director & Senior Executive Vice President (Civil Infrastructure) launched a digitalized Internal Control Management System (ICMS) for HCI IC along with Mr. R. Anbalagan (RA), Executive Vice President & Head — Heavy Civil SBG in the presence of BU and other functional heads on 29th July 2021 at Chennai.

Conceptualized by the internal control team and developed by HCI IC’s ISD team, ICMS is a common digital platform available across project sites to monitor compliance with internal control systems and statutory regulations. It facilitates data capture for internal control & statutory compliance requirements as identified by the Management through the respective process holders, to be reviewed and authorized by the respective stakeholders. This process enhances the quality of data capture and enables reviews with various stakeholders connected with the business process for better results. Both SVD & RA urged the internal control team to ensure strict implementation while emphasizing on close monitoring of ICMS by the internal control and BU teams for its successful implementation.

EDRC B&F IC BAGS FIST AWARDS

B&F IC – EDRC team bagged two prestigious FIST (Finest India Skills & Talent) awards in the Safe & Secure Hospital and Safe & Secure Commercial Facility categories.

‘Safe & Secure Hospital Facility’ award received by Mr. R. Balakrishnan, Head — MEP Design, EDRC‑B&F IC and Mr. Padmanathan S, Head — Fire Engineering & Mechanical Systems Design, EDRC‑B&F IC for Apollo Proton Therapy & Cancer Treatment Hospital at OMR Chennai.

The FIST award (Special Citation) for ‘Safe & Secure Commercial Facility’ category received by Mr. R. Balakrishnan, Head — MEP Design, EDRC — B&F IC and Dr. Munirajulu. M, Head — Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), EDRC‑B&F IC for ‘Innovative Solution for Life Safety — Performance Based Design using CFD’ for the Narendra Modi Stadium at Motera, Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

HEAVY CIVIL IC BAGS FICCI HR SCORE AWARD

Heavy Civil IC was conferred the prestigious FICCI HR SCORE AWARD for 2021 under the Large Corporates Category making L&T the only construction company to receive the award, which recognises excellence in human resource management and people practices during the pandemic.

The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in association with IIM-Trichy hosted the awards ceremony to felicitate deserving HR Managers and Organizations. Members from IIM-Trichy evaluated the nominations received from 30 leading corporates and the assessment was based on the SCORE Model: which stands for Strategic Alignment, Customer Value Enhancement, Organizational Capability Development, Responsiveness to Internal Customers and Environmental Sustainability.

FICCI Tamil Nadu State Council presented the awards at a glittering ceremony in Chennai on 17th April 2021, chaired by Honorable Justice N Kirubakaran, Madras High Court, Prof PK Singh, Director, IIM-Trichy, Dr GSK Velu, Chairman, FICCITNSC & Chairman and MD, Trivitron Group of Companies, Mr. P Sridharan, Head, FICCI- TNSC, and Mr. NR Mani, Convenor, FICCITNSC HR Panel 2021.
