Am thankful to Mr. Naik and to the L&T Board for reposing their faith in me. It is also an incredible honour to lead this wonderful organization.
We possess the unique capability to transform lives
As an organization, we have a huge responsibility because we have the inherent capability to transform lives, as our work is woven into the very fabric of life. We are a unique conglomerate that has been fortunate to taste great success with the pride of nation. building. We have won the abiding trust of our customers across geographies, our order book is at its most robust, our market cap and share price are at their highest. We must, however, remain ever hungry for success because our mandate is to keep doing the things that make India and the world proud.
We are all part of this wonderful organization because all of us believe that we are empowered, driven, and committed to change the world with our defining work. We must be future-ready today
The future is closer than you think. There are basic and massive changes occurring in the ecosystem; energy change, sustainability as a way of life, and digitalization are impacting every aspect of business. We must be future-ready. We must be ready to face the future today and am confident that together we will be able to do so, but it demands clarity of thought, single-mindedness of purpose, a sense of oneness, and an implicit belief in our collective worth and ability to deliver.
We must stand tall, for the new, emerging world is not for the faint-hearted. Our customers must experience our resolve that will reinforce their trust in us. Our entire ecosystem should feel our passion that we are here to make a difference to the world around us. The good thing is that we are already changing it. We must continue to do so, to speed and scale.
Our focus cannot waver from Performance, Performance, Performance. We cannot afford to rest on our laurels, for our customers will continue to seek excellence from us every day.
We have always prided ourselves in being ‘imagineers’; we must continue to be inspired to re-invent and engineer the future. We have a strong legacy, and it is for each one of us to put our own mark on the future that we must build together.
All the best!
A HISTORIC SIGNING FOR INDIA’S LARGEST EPC MANDATE TILL DATE
November 26th 2020 was a red letter day both for the Indian infrastructure sector and for us as the contract for the largest EPC order awarded in the country till date was signed between L&T and the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited. As our CEO & Managing Director, Mr S N Subrahmanyan described, “this order reflects an inflection point in the revival of India’s infrastructure sector and the first sure shot indication that our economy is up and running.” For L&T, it represents a great opportunity to make up for lost ground due to the pandemic and reaffirm our status as India’s foremost construction organization.
The mandate is for the design and construction of 237 km of viaduct between Vapi and Vadodara in Gujarat, four stations, a depot at Surat, 14 river, 6 railway & 42 road crossings and a 350 M long mountain tunnel.
“This project will give a huge thrust to economic and social development,” declared Whole Time Director & Senior Executive Vice
President (Civil Infrastructure), S V Desai, for whom and his team, the mandate is not only a huge win but an even bigger responsibility. “The project will generate employment for professionals like engineers, technicians, designers, architects and create livelihoods for skilled and semi-skilled workforce and construction workers. It will boost demand for construction material and machinery and even ancillary industries like hospitality, entertainment, health, tourism, real estate & housing and education will flourish during the construction phase,” he elaborated.
