SNS’s sustainability message

Dear Colleague,

The first World Environment Day was observed with the slogan “Only One Earth” 50 years ago. Five decades later, it still stands true as the Earth is still our only home, and we must safeguard its finite resources. This year’s theme OnlyOneEarth is therefore appropriate to call for transformative environmental changes on a global scale, to policies and choices to enable cleaner, greener, and sustainable living in harmony with nature. The very survival of our planet and life on Earth depends on all of us observing every single day as World Environment Day.

As a Company, we proudly espoused the tenets of sustainability very early, which have now evolved into our ESG framework driven by a vision of ‘Technology for Sustainable Growth’.  As we aim to achieve Carbon Neutrality by 2040 and Water Neutrality by 2035, we are integrating ESG in our strategy to improve our resource efficiency and reduce carbon footprint. By employing a digital-first mindset around all aspects of the business, we are taking steps to reduce waste production through improved recycling initiatives that encourage our people to develop and sustain environmentally friendly habits. Apart from our operations and services, we are also working with our partners to reduce emissions and create a significant impact.

Delighted to share some significant achievements related to our environmental performance: We have avoided emission of around 40,000 tonnes of CO2 during the year, which is equivalent to planting 5 lakh trees. Our cumulative energy conservation is around 150 million units, which is equivalent to powering 70,000 homes for a year. We are keenly focused on Circular Economy using the 6R (reduce, reuse, recycle, repair, refurbish and rethink) approach to manage waste and improve material recycling and reuse. Cumulatively, we have planted around 6 million multispecies trees, and our focus on biodiversity and protection of natural resources is more than ever. Our portfolio of green businesses, which includes solar, water, green hydrogen, and others, is steadily growing and presently constitutes >30% of total revenue.

We are using our collective capabilities to build stronger and more resilient communities and to protect and strengthen the natural world, to create a sustainable future for generations to come. A lot, however, remains to be done. We have a long way to go, but let’s start by reaffirming our commitment to sustain our planet. We must grasp the opportunity we have been given to rise and meet the complex challenges that are in front of us. Excited to work with my colleagues, our clients, partners, and the communities we operate in as we continue to strive for a sustainable future on World Environment Day and every day.

Stay safe. Stay green!

Warm regards,
